"I don't know if I want to work for other people anymore."
"I don't know if I want to work for other people anymore."
This is the thought that ultimately pushed me down the path of building my own business.
When I said to myself, no, I don't want to work for other people anymore, I thought I had solved the problem. I'm not working for “the man” anymore - I can do whatever I want.
Hooray.
Except… I still found myself regularly stuck in comparison - to other founders, social media, social expectations.
I looked at other founders and thought, “she has more clients than I do”, or “she’s posting on LinkedIn more than I am”, or “she goes on such fancy vacations, she must be making so much more money than I am”.
I had stopped chasing what my boss or founder told me success looked like. But I was still measuring success based on expectations created by other people.
Turns out it's not as easy as I thought to build something “on my own terms”. 😬
If you're a founder asking yourself these questions, thinking about how do you ensure that you're building a business that actually aligns for you and not just the business that you think you “should” be building, join me in Changing the Game.
Send me a note if you have questions.
