When I was a kid, the loudest part of the house was the kitchen.

It still wasn’t particularly loud - my family of four had a relatively quiet house - but if my brother or I had friends over things could get a bit rowdy.

In the kitchen, my parents had a little brown clock radio set to our local NPR station (WHRO for Hampton Roads 😁) and that was usually going. Or they would put a record or tape on the stereo in the adjacent sunroom.

And I noticed that in my home now, with everyone using their own devices, we don’t often just have music playing on the speakers (or talk radio).

I’m making a note to start playing more music in my house - my life deserves a soundtrack. 😉

Is your home usually quiet, or do you find ways to fill it with sounds?
