Two complete strangers got up out of their seats to open the door for me.

I feel like whether this surprises us or feels completely normal says a lot about where we live and the communities we're a part of. 🤔

This exact thing happened to me at a coffee shop in a small town in New York.

I was walking to the door with a coffee cup in one hand and to go box in the other. Two separate people, sitting at separate tables (neither close to the door) stood up to open the door for me. One of then even chuckled out loud to the other, "oh, I didn't see you getting up for the door!"

Both sat back down after they'd seen me safely exit the coffee shop.

I tried to imagine if this would ever happen in Brooklyn or Manhattan... I've had people hold the door if they're already heading in or out. But I've never had some one get up to open the door for me.

What about you - would this be completely wild where you live? Completely normal? Somewhere in between?
