This might be the first time I've 100% disconnected from work on vacation in years.

This might be the first time I've 100% disconnected from work on vacation in years.

Did not open my computer, send an email, draft a slack message, or attend a meeting.

The joy of working for myself means I have flexibility to work whenever and wherever I want, but the truth is that means work sometimes sneaks into vacation time. 😬

I planned ahead so I could do things differently. I scheduled emails in advance, scheduled one LinkedIn post and decided not to post the rest of the week, moved all calls, blocked my calendar. By the time I drove to the beach on Saturday, I was fully “turned off" from work. 😎

Coming back, my brain feels rested, yes, but it also feels calmer and more open to new ideas. I'm also feeling focused on simplification - how can I narrow down what I'm doing to laser focus on the things that matter most?

I'm ready for a summer of simplicity and focus!

(Also I'm ready to go to the beach again 😂)

What did you do that helped you fully disconnect on vacation?

As a kid, I spent just about every summer day at the community pool.
