I’m trying something different for the next two weeks.

I’m sharing a little slice of my adventures - a two-week road trip partway across the country (and back).

I’m not promising any deep thoughts about how these adventures relate to business or executive coaching. Just some fabulous experiences I’m collecting as part of my own “I’ve had a good life” story.

I got to experience The Great Elephant Migration in Boston earlier this week. I hadn’t heard of it beforehand, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when our hosts said, “we’re going to see the elephants”. 😉

It’s hard to explain the feeling of standing amongst this herd of incredible creations.

I tried to imagine what it would feel like to exist close to giant creatures like this on a daily basis.

I’ll let the exhibit creators speak for themselves, here:

”The creators of the herd live in the Nilgiri Hills of Southern India - a place where humans and elephants share space more closely than anywhere else on Earth. Here, Indigenous communities see every part of nature as alive, intelligent, and deserving of respect. The wind has a spirit. The rivers have memory. Animals, plants, rocks, and stars are all part of one family.

In this worldview, humans are not separate from nature but woven into it. What we do to the earth, we do to ourselves. Treat the elephants with respect, and they will return it. This mutual care is not poetic thinking, it is the foundation of survival and coexistence.”

If you’re thinking about how to survive or coexist with a particularly challenging colleague, send me a note. We can talk about how you might work together (vs getting trampled by the herd… hehe. see what I did there? 😉)
