I’m practicing saying “no” before I start saying “yes”.

I’m practicing saying “no” before I start saying “yes”.

As we head into Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, I find myself thinking about endings, beginnings, and the commitments I need to create the life I want.

But before I make commitments… I need to decide what I will say “no” to.

Every major shift in my life has started with a “no”.
>> Leaving theater for tech startups? I had to say “no” to every stage management job that came my way.
>> Launching my business? I had to say “no” to the security of a full-time, salaried role.

Each “no” felt scary.
Like stepping into the unknown.

But each “no” also created space.
It forced me to fully invest in what came next.

So yes, I’ll reflect soon on what I want to commit to this year.

But first, I’m asking myself: “to create the life I want, where do I need to say no?”

The trick is finding a real “no” - not just repackaging something I already do. 😉

And while I wanted to show up here with the perfect first “no,” I don’t have it nailed down yet. 😂

So maybe that’s it:
I’m saying “no” to perfect, and “yes” to done.

What about you?
What are you saying “no” to this week, this month, or this season to make space for what matters most?

Y’all. I just finished a business book, and I can’t decide if I want to recommend it or hurl it at the wall.
