Your plan to squeeze in “just 30 minutes” of work is probably ruining your day.

Your plan to squeeze in “just 30 minutes” of work is probably ruining your day.

I said it.

This was me at a coffee shop near my kid’s school the other day.
Parked illegally. Put on my flashers. Went down the block to the coffee shop and pulled out my computer … fingers crossed I wouldn't get a ticket before school pickup.

Just trying to squeeze in 30 more minutes of work.

You know how much amazing, useful work I got done in that 30 minutes? When the whole time some part of my brain was wondering if my car was getting a pricey ticket?

Yeah, not much.

So no, I do not recommend this approach. Maybe instead, just sit in your car with the flashers on, read a book, listen to the radio, breathe for a minute.

When have you pushed yourself to "just get stuff done" in a way that got you basically nowhere?
