Trees are freaking magic, y'all.
Trees are freaking magic, y’all.
This is me on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, a few blocks from my home.
On a hot day like today, I walk outside and I can feel the heat - it's intense, almost like pressure.
And then I step a few blocks away onto the tree-lined walkway that is Eastern Parkway, and I can feel the temperature drop.
It's almost as if the trees radiate a cooler air or energy. (I know that's not how science works, I'm just telling you how it feels 😜)
Even on the hottest days where the air doesn't seem to move at all, the Eastern Parkway trees are here with their quiet cool and little breezes.
Walking down this column of trees today, I realized - sometimes I'm so busy missing the trees I've enjoyed on forest walks or mountain hikes, I forget to pay attention to the equally fabulous trees just around the corner.
Giving me oxygen
Sharing their shade
Cooling my city
So thank you, Eastern Parkway trees. ❤️
What about you - what's your favorite neighborhood tree?

P.S. I'm also lucky enough to have a huge and truly amazing maple tree in my back yard. Maybe I'll tell you about that tree on another day. 😁
