I knew this message was coming and yet...
Y'all. I was still so damn excited when it arrived! πŸŽ‰

I have to be honest.
I work with a lot of badass humans.
These people are legit amazing. 🀩

So... promotions and accolades do not surprise me.

And yet, so many of these amazing humans have worked at companies where they were:
underrecognized
underestimated
underappreciated

Work in places like that long enough, and you will start to underestimate yourself.

This client had a long and impressive career of building powerful teams, creating business success, delivering key outcomes.

On paper, they were more than qualified to make the leap from VP to C-level.

But in our early conversations they talked about uncertainty:
"I tend to underestimate my abilities or the way people perceive me."
"I know what I’ve done, but I also know what I *haven’t* done before"

On the path to promotion, they wanted someone to challenge them:
what am I missing?
what haven’t I thought of?
what else should I try?

So we agreed to partner, to help them
--> build the powerful relationships necessary to advance their career
--> speak confidently in exec team and board meetings
--> make moves that measurably impact the business

And here's the thing.
My clients don't *need* to work with me to get their next promotion.
As I said, I work with badass humans.
They are 100% capable of doing incredible things without me. πŸ”₯

But my clients also know the value of a trusted thought partner.
Someone who will challenge you, brainstorm with you, push you to new limits.
And most of all, someone who will celebrate your successes.

And that brings me back to how wildly excited I was to get this message.
I'm not sure my responding message appropriately conveyed my joy.
Although of course it included at least a few emojis. πŸŽ‰ ❀️

Privately, I did a little dance in my office. πŸ˜‰

How about you - whose success do you want to celebrate today?
