Four months ago, a post took me hours. Last week, I wrote one in 15 minutes.
I have been posting on LinkedIn 5 days a week now since mid-January. When I first started, it took me hours to get through drafting 5 posts. I would draft, edit, ask Claudette for her two cents, edit some more… and then finally post something.
It took time, it was hard work. But after only a few weeks I noticed I was enjoying it. And not just enjoying the writing. I was enjoying doing something really damn hard, learning, and getting better at it.
I thought I had tons of experience learning new things — I read constantly, I think a lot, I try things. But rolling up my sleeves and doing a hard thing, day after day, week after week, is a very different kind of learning.
And I freaking love it.
So I am celebrating writing a post in 15 minutes, not just because I’m getting better at this hard thing, but because I’m actually enjoying the process of falling on my face and getting stronger.
Here’s to you, Leah Vernon, for kicking my a$$ and telling me to do hard things. I’m grateful.
(Even if I sometimes curse you when I’m toiling way too long over a post. 😉)
What hard thing have you been falling on your face at lately, and loving anyway?
